A car we sold a year ago to a collector, who managed just 30 miles in the car in the last 12 months, to follow our description from 2020…

As the UK’s only 986 Boxster specialist, we are lucky to get offered some very special cars, and this might just be the best yet. An early Stuttgart built Boxster S on just 19,300 miles in the hands of just one owner from new, W239 BDP is probably one of, if not THE, best preserved 986 models in the country.

W239 BDP was ordered by its long term owner, a Mr. Paul from Ascot, in September 1999, as soon as the Boxster S was launched. Unable to secure a car quickly enough from UK Porsche dealers, he placed his order with Porsche dealers Senn Automobile AG of Chur, Switzerland, and the original order form is in the file, stating in the notes that the car was scheduled for “May production”. The car was duly imported to the UK on 12 July 2000, as stamped by the DVLA on the Certificate of Conformity.

Mr. Paul used his car sparingly yet consistently over the next 18 years, having it maintained by his local Porsche specialists Tognola Engineering, at 7,938 miles in 2004, 12,464 miles in 2007, 17,523 miles in 2013, and 18,709 miles in 2015. All the MOT certificates back to 2003 confirm the steady accumulation of mileage over this time, and notable is the fact that the car has never had a single advisory, not even for a wiper blade, bulb or tyre.

In recent years, his use of the car diminished and he sadly passed away in early 2019, leaving his Porsche cars including the Boxster to his son, from whom we purchased the car in March 2020.

We have carried out a Major service, changed the brake fluid and the spark plugs, and on inspection, found the car to be in near-perfect condition. The condition of the underside is remarkable for a 20 year old car, and backs up the assertion from Mr. Paul’s son that the car was never taken out in the rain, and was carefully garaged when not in use. We have included a number of pictures of the wheel arches and exhaust to demonstrate this.

The Ocean blue metallic paintwork retains a deep shine and is almost blemish free, there are no dings or dents to the bodywork, and the 17″ Twist spoke alloys are original and unmarked. The hood is perfect with a clear and supple original rear screen. The interior, with extended leather to dash and door cards, is immaculate with absolutely no signs of wear to the control surfaces, leather or interior plastics. The car still has a set of ‘Senn Chur’ dealer carpet mats protecting the original Porsche carpet mats!

This is an increasingly rare opportunity to buy a genuine time-warp car – if you have any wish to make a splash at your local Porsche club concours competition, this could well be the car for you. Or just use it (as I would) for the sheer pleasure of driving one of the finest handling sports cars of all time, in virtually as good order as the day Mr. Paul collected it 21 years ago.
