Here we have a terrific 987 Gen 1 Boxster 3.2 S from 2006, in classic Arctic Silver with Sea Blue leather interior. Ordered with just a few well chosen options – 18″ alloy wheels, cruise control and rear parking sensors, S25BXR has a very good service history, with 12 service stamps in the maintenance record over 16 years, and a further 6 stamps for brake fluid changes.
Between 2012 and 2018 the car was looked after by very well respected Porsche specialists Parr in Crawley. The supporting invoices in the history file show a significant amount of additional maintenance work, including front coffin arms (2014 at 58,032 miles), a new clutch and RMS (2016 at 63,828 miles), water pump (2016 at 64,324 miles), front dampers, top mounts and bumpstops (2017 at 66,943 miles), brake discs and pads (rears 2015, fronts 2016), coolant hoses (2017 at 69,721 miles).
More recently, the car has had new rear coffin arms and a full set of brake discs and pads (2022 at 84,849 miles), AC condensers and exhaust fittings (2022 at 85,809 miles). We will prepare the car for sale with a full inspection, replacement of the hood cover side tension elastic (loss of elasticity in the fabric causes the hood to sit outside the side spars – a simple repair but one that is often missed), and we have already had the 18″ alloy wheels refurbished and the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres refitted and balanced.
These 3.2 litre flat six 987.1 Boxsters are a real sweet spot – more powerful than a 986 Boxster S at 280bhp, with the re-designed “big” IMS bearing and without the potential for bore scoring that can affect the later 3.4 litre cars, they provide stirring performance and a wonderful soundtrack. The handling is sublime, backed up with wonderful steering, a slick 6-speed manual gearbox and powerful Brembo sourced brakes. Fantastic fun, and with all 987 Boxsters being Euro 4 there is no problem with ULEZ charges in our major cities.
