An unusual car for us to stock, in that GK05AYX has covered a fair few miles in its 16 years, but when we were offered the car as a part exchange we couldn’t say no once we’d driven it and looked at the recent service history.

With 134,200 miles under its 19″ ‘Lobster Claw’ alloy wheels, one would normally expect a Boxster like this to feel a bit baggy and tired, but not this one! The previous owner had the car for four years, and did not shy away from spending money on key maintenance items. The service history is solid, with 8 stamps recorded at a mix of OPCs and Porsche specialists. Latterly, the car was cared for by Christian Sanger in Coate, Wiltshire, and has had the following works completed in recent years:

May 2014 – ignition coils @ 98k miles

August 2016 – water pump and aux belt @ 119k miles

May 2017 – front brake discs and pads @ 125k miles

July 2019 – front coolant hoses and crossover pipes @ 130k miles

October 2020 – front and rear bumpers repainted @ 131k miles

November 2020 – AC condensers replaced @ 133k miles

Looking great in Lapis Blue metallic with Stone grey extended leather interior, GK05AYX is also fitted with heated, fully electric 12-way seats with drivers memory function, Litronic xenon headlamps with washer system, rear parking sensors, PSM Porsche Stability Management, and leather edged floor mats.

This is a Boxster to drive, not polish, and at a price that means you won’t worry about putting a few more miles on it. These 3.2 987s are a real sweet spot for reliability – the bigger IMS bearing, and very unlikely to suffer from bore scoring as the engine is an M96 derivative from the 986. Plus being a 2005 car means lower road tax at £340 pa.
